Distorting the shape of geometrical symmetry makes me immerse into the endless sense of silhouette. In order to create a new deconstructive silhouette, I began researching for deconstructivism as art and design that is not fashion.

I tried to relate the art of deconstructivism in architecture within clothes and its structural counterpart as this project’s motif. The types of buildings that inspired me most were those of Frank Gehry. In the process of this work, through techniques of disassembling, subversion, and distortion to create complexity, I have been moved by splitting sides, intricacy and distortion to create rhythmical beauty.

Sketch Development
I was poised to utilize the characteristic of distorted curves. I divided the skirt into many faces and deconstructed everything in accordance to the body form. In order to display rhythmical beauty, I tried to create “moving” windows after initially beginning with the idea of utilizing a building’s frame structure and windows.

Materials
Used felt fabric in order to create a clean, sleek look while displaying the seam allowance on the outside to create a three-dimensional look.
Since white color can show various tone by shading effect, the complexity that I want to display is well reflected with this color. Also, with applying only one color, I tried to hold viewer’s attention mainly on shape and figure.
